The purpose of the RRCUS Versatility Certificate program is to encourage participation and acknowledge the accomplishments of Rhodesian Ridgebacks as a versatile breed. The Versatility Certificate ("VC") and the Versatility Certificate Excellent ("VCX") are given to those members whose Rhodesian Ridgebacks have earned the required U.S. titles and awards. A minimum number of points in Conformation (Group A), the four performance groups: Obedience (Group B), Tracking (Group C), Lure Coursing/Racing (Group D), and Agility (Group E), and the Miscellaneous (Group F) are necessary. The points earned in Groups A through E are not accumulative in that group (i.e., earning a CDX entitles the dog to only 4 points in Group B; the 3 points earned for a CD cannot also be counted). In addition, points awarded for standard and jumpers titles are not accumulative in Group E (i.e., earning an AX and an AXJ entitles the dog to only 4 points in Group E, and earning an OA and an AXJ entitles the dog to only 4 points in Group E). Miscellaneous points in Group F are accumulative and allow recognition of Rhodesian Ridgebacks that participate or excel in a variety of canine activities. The VC Committee will review applications for Group B through F point credit for titles and awards, other than those listed in VC/VCX point schedule or VC/VCX Master Points List (link at left), on an individual basis. Information supplied to the VC Committee should include proof of credit, rules of the sanctioning organization and a description of the sport or activity. All requirements must be met by December 31st. Submissions of the Versatility Certificate Application, with photocopies of all awards and certificates attached, must be postmarked no later than March 15th* of the following year. New VC or VCX titleholders will be notified by April 15th, and at that time the following may be sent to the editor of The Ridgeback for inclusion in the Versatility Awards section of the magazine: a photograph of the dog (preferably in one of the performance events), the dog’s registered name, the sire and dam of the dog, and the owner and breeder’s name. Certificates for dogs earning a VC or VCX are presented at the RRCUS National Specialty Annual Awards Banquet, otherwise they will be mailed to the recipient after that date.
